XR Creators Lab is designed for:
Young people aged 15–18 who are curious about creative technology
Beginners interested in exploring XR, AI and immersive digital spaces
Young people who enjoy games, art, storytelling or making things
Emerging creators who want to experiment, collaborate and try new ideas
Educators, youth workers and organisations supporting young people to take part
No previous experience with XR, coding or AI tools is required — curiosity and willingness to explore are enough.
Programme Overview
XR Creators Lab is a 5-day hybrid online and VR internship combining live sessions, immersive experiences, creative workshops and collaborative exploration.
Participants take part in a structured but exploratory studio environment, working together across the week to experiment, create and engage with emerging digital practices. Through guided activities, shared sessions and independent exploration, participants are supported to develop ideas, test concepts and build confidence using creative technologies.
The programme reflects a growing shift in how young people engage with technology — moving beyond consumption towards creation, collaboration and real-world application. Participants explore immersive environments, AI-assisted creativity and digital world-building as tools for expression, problem-solving and future-focused skills development.
The experience blends hands-on making with real-time interaction, including immersive VR meetups and opportunities to connect with professionals working in the XR space.
The pilot cohort brings together a small number of young people and organisations from across the UK, Ireland and EU, creating a diverse and collaborative environment grounded in curiosity, creativity and shared learning.
Participation in this pilot programme is free of charge as part of this initial development phase.
