Building Creative Futures: HoloGen’s Next Chapter

3.30am. An early start for a desert trail run—and a chance to reflect on how far HoloGen has come.

I recently spent two weeks in the Middle East delivering creative technology programmes with students and educators. Their enthusiasm, ideas and willingness to try something new made it a particularly rewarding experience.

This work marks a real milestone for HoloGen. Taking the programmes into a new international setting, with mentoring continuing beyond the visit, feels like an important step forward. It also gave me fresh perspectives to bring home.

The work draws on my background in art, design, education and youth work, alongside HoloGen’s expertise in immersive technology, 3D design, game creation, creative coding, AI and digital storytelling.

What I enjoy most is seeing students take ownership of an idea: making choices, working through problems and creating something they are proud to share. Working alongside educators helps that learning continue beyond the initial sessions.

Since starting in education and youth work in 2003, I’ve seen the difference it makes when people have space and encouragement to be creative. That matters across every sector. Whatever technology we use, we need people who can ask good questions, imagine possibilities and develop their ideas.

Building HoloGen has been life-changing. Thank you to everyone I’ve worked with, connected with and learned from along the way. You’ve helped shape the work and make this next chapter possible.

If you’re interested in collaborating on creative learning, educator development or a new project, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
